When exploring early childhood curriculums, I was struck by the quality and variety of Music offered in Music Together's 9 large collections. I was also very impressed that teacher training and licensing was done in person with the original program developers and researchers. After teaching for 19 years I still love our curriculum as much as I did the very first session!
For children from birth to age 5. Child development researchers recommend mixed-age groupings because they foster natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, and exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers, parents, grandparents, or nanny, singly or together, can bring the children.
